Psalm 83:17-18

17 May they always be ashamed and frightened.
    Let them die with shame![a]
18 Then they will understand that you are the Lord.
They will know that you are the Most High God
    who rules over all the earth.

  1. 83:17 The writer wants Israel's enemies to turn to God when they see his power. But he knows that this may not happen. So he prays that God will punish them if they do not turn to worship him.
